On 15 April 2025, we updated participants on route conditions and safety measures thegreatsouthernwalk.co.uk.
Both the 15‑mile and 5‑mile routes feature mixed terrain: forest paths, rural lanes, orchard tracks, and occasional mud.
The 5‑mile family route is pram and mobility‑aid friendly, save for a 200 m uneven stretch near Toddlers Cove.
First‑Aid trained volunteers, clear signage, and marshals are stationed throughout the course.
Participants must wear suitable footwear, carry any required medication, follow marshal instructions and emergency information displayed on bibs—and under‑16s must be accompanied by an adult.
