The Routes

What’s not to like about a good walk in some of the best countryside Kent has to offer?

Route #1

The Great Southern Walk (15 miles)

Hilly, scenic, 4–5 hrs. Includes Medal

The first Annual GREAT SOUTHERN WALK takes place on Sunday 14th September starting and finishing in Thanington, Canterbury.  The route is 15 miles (24 km) – taking you high on the Kent Downs with long views of open rolling hills and valleys, into the depths of ancient woodlands, passing hidden gem hamlets and beside the waters of the River Stour. Most of the route lies within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Route #2

Family Walk (5 miles)

Meadows, flat path. Includes medal.

We also have a second shorter walk of 5 miles (8km) which is less of a challenge, more of a quiet family walk taking you along the River Stour and its water meadows, past ancient ruins, with fine views of Canterbury city, through to the children’s playground at Toddlers Cove, before following the river path back to the finish.
