The Great Southern Walk – Governance & Committee Statement

The Great Southern Walk is coordinated by a local leadership committee in support of two registered charities:

  • The Prince of Wales Youth Club (Charity No. 302701)

  • Rising Sun (Charity No. 289253)

Together, we uphold strong local governance, safeguarding practices, and transparent financial oversight for this flagship community event.


 

1. Committee Members

The 2025 Organising Committee comprises professionals, charity leaders, and community volunteers with experience in youth work, logistics, sponsorship, and public engagement:

2. Digital & Communications Lead

Robert Necas is responsible for:

  • Website development (www.tgsw.uk)

  • Sponsor and participant communications

  • Data protection, email marketing, and automation

  • Branding and online engagement strategy

3. Charity Accountability

Funds raised via the event are directed to our two beneficiary charities. Each holds:

  • Registered charity status in England and Wales

  • Annual financial reporting to the Charity Commission

  • Safeguarding policies and risk assessments in line with UK law

Sponsorship income benefits both charities equally. Event registration fees and general donations through The Great Southern Walk are shared evenly between the Prince of Wales Youth Club and Rising Sun.
